What we don't do
A few things we get asked about regularly that we won't do, so you don't waste time asking:
- Free roof inspections or assessments. We're a reference site, not a roofing contractor. For an actual inspection of a specific roof, hire a licensed inspector or a roofing contractor in your area.
- Personal contractor recommendations. We don't maintain a vetted contractor list and don't recommend specific companies. The best contractor for your project is one with current state licensing, $1M+ general liability insurance, workers' compensation coverage, BBB record, and at least three local customer references whose roofs are 3+ years old.
- Sponsored articles, paid placements, or affiliate posts. Not now, not in negotiations, not interested. See our methodology page for the editorial independence policy.
- Link exchanges or guest-post submissions. Every page on this site is produced by our editorial team. We don't accept outside-authored content of any kind.
- Engineering or sealed structural calculations. We provide reference math and educational content; engineered design needs a licensed engineer familiar with your specific project. See our about page for what this site is and isn't.
How we handle your information
We don't sell, share, or rent email addresses. We don't add correspondents to a marketing list. We reply from the same address you wrote to and don't cross-contact you on other channels. Email correspondence is retained only as long as needed to handle the correspondence — typically 30–90 days for general questions, longer for corrections that need to be verified or revisited.
